Cup FAQ

Do I need any money to play?

No. You claim 10,000 $pUSDC of paper chips once, free, and that's your whole tournament stack. There is no deposit, no top-up, and nothing to buy — the Cup never asks for funds.

What is $pUSDC?

Paper chips — the Cup's scorekeeping currency. It isn't a crypto token: you can't buy it, sell it, or withdraw it. It exists only to keep the tournament fair, because everyone starts with exactly the same 10,000.

So how do I win real money?

By ranking. Every settled bet books realized profit or loss, and that realized PnL is your leaderboard score. When the Cup ends, the top 50 wallets split $5,000 in real USDC, paid on Base to the wallet you played with.

What exactly is a prediction market?

A market where you back an outcome instead of buying an asset: will $BTC close green today? which token wins the week? Each side has a price set by the crowd, and being right pays. If you're new, the 2-minute primer walks through one bet end to end.

How are the odds set?

By the pool, not a bookmaker. If 61% of the money sits on YES, YES shows 61%. When a market resolves, the winning side splits the entire pool in proportion to their stakes — so backing an unpopular side that turns out right pays the most.

What do I need to join?

Just a wallet to sign in with — it identifies you on the leaderboard and is where a prize would be paid. It never needs funds or gas: paper trades aren't on-chain transactions.

Can I lose real money?

No. The worst case is your paper stack shrinking. Real money exists in exactly one place in the Cup: the prize pool paid out at the end.

How long does the Cup run?

Four weeks, with the leaderboard live the whole time. Each week's board freezes when the week ends, and the final standings lock the moment the Cup window closes — only bets that have settled by then count.

Are there fees on trades?

No. Cup trades carry zero fees — the full amount you stake goes into the pool. (On the real-money book, playhunch.xyz charges a small entry fee; the Cup doesn't.)
